Our History
For over 35 years, Fielding & Company LLP has provided high quality legal services to its clients in Camrose, Wetaskiwin and throughout Central Alberta.
Harry Gaede and Alan Fielding opened the doors of their new law office in Camrose in 1973. Though they had both spent most of their lives to that point in Edmonton, they were convinced that Camrose was the place to build a satisfying legal career and an excellent place to raise their children. Many years later, their vision for the firm and for themselves has been amply borne out.
In 1980 the firm of Gaede and Fielding expanded to include Ken Rostad, and the next year Hameed Syed joined the firm. In 1986 Ken Rostad was elected to the Legislative Assembly and later was appointed Minister of Justice. In 1987 Ian Smith joined the team and in 1992 Wayne Throndson became the newest member of the firm.
In 1992 Harry Gaede was appointed an Alberta Provincial Court Judge, sitting in Camrose.
For the next 13 years the firm, then named “Fielding Syed Smith & Throndson”, continued its traditions of providing quality legal representation to its clients and giving generously back to the Camrose community by volunteering.
In 2005, Alan Fielding retired from the practice of law and another name change was in order. The firm elected to become registered as a limited liability partnership, resulting in the present name of “Fielding & Company LLP”, in tribute to Alan Fielding’s exemplary service to the legal profession and to the Camrose community. Hameed Syed retired to Toronto in 2011.
The firm opened an office in Wetaskiwin in 2015 and we have enjoyed serving the Wetaskiwin area ever since.
Jonathan Sims joined the firm as an associate in 2017 after having practiced law in Leduc since his call to the Alberta Bar in 2016. Jonathan became a partner in 2024.
Todd Yaremcio joined the firm as a student-at-law in 2023 and as an associate in 2024 upon his call to the Alberta Bar.
